A new 143-home development of premium properties is set for launch in Winchburgh, West Lothian.

The town, which is tipped to grow from a population of 6,500 to 14,500 in the next decade, will welcome the Charles Church brand of three, four and five-bedroom homes.

The development is the first in east Scotland since the brand returned to the area.

John Hamilton, CEO of Winchburgh Developments Ltd (WDL), which leads the masterplan for Winchburgh, said, “We welcome Charles Church as a high-quality developer committing to the growth of Winchburgh in what is an excellent opportunity to create a beautiful neighbourhood in the easternmost part of the community, which is close to the brand new Hawkhill Primary School and affords amazing long views to the Pentlands and Edinburgh, including Edinburgh Castle in the distance. We were impressed with their vision for the area and look forward to working with them on development of their unique brand of premium housing.”

Mark Sinclair, land director for Charles Church, added, “Winchburgh is an established community, with excellent retail and transport links. Our plan is to create an appealing variety of high-quality homes in the desirable east of the town, with quick, walkable access to the new primary school. This development is a significant part of the relaunch of Charles Church in Scotland and we’re excited to create an attractive place to live in one of the country’s most dynamic communities.”

The growth of Winchburgh continues at pace, with more than 900 people relocating there in 2025 alone.

“We do things differently here,” John Hamilton said. “It’s infrastructure first, houses second, ensuring a quality of life that is both desirable for people moving here and an improvement for those who have called Winchburgh home for a while.

“Experience tells us that creating a community – especially on this scale – is not just about constructing a healthy mix of residential and business premises but ensuring that alongside the housing and shops are excellent leisure facilities, the best-equipped schools, and an environment that encourages people to strike a positive work-life balance and lead a healthy lifestyle.”
