A topping out ceremony has marked a major milestone in the build of Broadway Studios, a new 432-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Glasgow city centre.
Developer MRP, contractor McAleer & Rushe, and funding partner Puma Property Finance joined guests and key stakeholders to celebrate the progress at the 16-storey concrete frame facility.
Once complete, Broadway Studios will provide residents with amenities including a rooftop lounge, fitness suite, cinema, gym, private dining, and games facilities. The project will be the first student development in Glasgow to fully align with the city’s new PBSA spatial standards.
The scheme will achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’, WiredScore ‘Platinum’, and an EPC rating of A, while exceeding Glasgow City Council’s energy efficiency requirements by 20%. The building incorporates air-source heat pumps and ‘high-performance’ building materials to deliver long-term operational efficiency.
Puma Property Finance provided £58 million in development finance to MRP, with construction being delivered by McAleer & Rushe. The project remains on track for completion this summer ahead of the 2026/2027 academic year. The building will be operated by Prestige Student Living.
Shane McCullagh, director at McAleer & Rushe, said, “Reaching the topping out milestone is a testament to the expertise and collaboration shown by everyone involved in bringing Broadway Studios to life. Thank you to our design team, supply chain, and all other partners who have supported us thus far.
“We are proud to be playing our part in delivering high-quality, sustainable student accommodation in the heart of Glasgow, and we look forward to maintaining this momentum as we progress towards completion later this year.”
Shane McBride, development director at MRP, commented, “We are delighted to reach this significant milestone in the delivery of Broadway Studios and would like to thank our exceptional construction colleagues at McAleer & Rushe, our funding partner Puma Property Finance, Glasgow City Council, our dedicated subcontractors, professional consultant team, and the local community for their continued support throughout the development.
“We are also pleased to have appointed Prestige Student Living to operate the building on our behalf and are already taking room bookings for the 2026/27 academic year. The project progresses at pace towards completion, and we look forward to opening the doors to our residents in early September 2026.”
Kevin Davidson, MD, Puma Property Finance, added, “It was a pleasure to attend this milestone event at Broadway Studios and see first hand the great progress being made by MRP, McAleer & Rushe and the wider construction team in bringing this high quality student accommodation scheme to Glasgow this year.”
