SPRINGFIELD Properties has donated two defibrillators to Nairn Dunbar Golf Club in support of the club’s fundraising efforts to enhance on-site and community safety.
The club’s Seniors and Ladies sections have raised over £2,000 to improve access to defibrillators at the course. In response, Springfield offered to donate two defibrillator units.
One of the defibrillators will be installed in a powered cabinet outside the clubhouse, providing 24/7 public access for members, visitors and local residents. The second will be located at the club’s halfway house, ensuring rapid access for those on the course.
The fundraising will enable the club to purchase powered cabinets for the units, as well as an unpowered cabinet for an existing defibrillator, allowing it to be mounted on a golf cart used by greenkeeping staff. Contactable by radio, staff will be able to respond quickly to any cardiac emergency anywhere on the course.
This week, during National Heart Month, the Scottish Government announced a £2.5 million investment to increase public access to defibrillators in efforts to increase cardiac arrest survival rates. Springfield have them available on each of their construction sites across Scotland.
Ken Millar, group SHEQ director at Springfield, said, “We are proud to support Nairn Dunbar Golf Club with the donation of these defibrillators. Having equipment that is accessible 24/7 can make a critical difference in an emergency, and it’s particularly important to us that one unit will be available to the wider community as well.
“It’s fantastic to see the additional fundraising by the Seniors and Ladies sections further strengthening the club’s safety provision. This project is a great example of what can be achieved when local organisations work together to enhance community safety.”
Jim Docherty, Nairn Dunbar Golf Club captain, added, “The very generous donation of two defibrillators from Springfield is very much appreciated by Nairn Dunbar Golf Club. It will allow enhanced access to this potentially lifesaving equipment for members, visitors and the wider community in the Lochloy area of Nairn.
“The money raised by the ladies and seniors can be used to house these defibrillators in purpose-built cabinets which keep the defibrillator in tip top condition and allows them to be housed externally and, therefore, be available for emergency use 24/7.
“In situations where a person suffers a cardiac arrest, time is critical, and having access to these defibrillators 24/7 to be used by any member of the public can be lifesaving. Nairn Dunbar’s chosen charity for this year is Lucky2BeHere which is a charity set up to provide Emergency Life Support (ELS) training and also provide defibrillators to communities across Scotland. We will source our cabinets from L2BH and they will kindly provide ELS training in the clubhouse.”
