Housebuilder confirms partnership with Scottish timber frame manufacturer

Keepmoat team on tour of Alexander’s Timber Design facility

HOUSEBUILDER Keepmoat has announced a new partnership with Alexanders Timber Design (ATD) in Scotland.

The move is tipped to promote sustainable Scottish forestry and will see ATD manufacture timber frames for Keepmoat developments from its facility in Irvine. ATD is owned by Glennon Brothers, a third-generation, family-owned timber processing business.

Keepmoat added that the move will reduce transport emissions from its timber frame supply chain in Scotland by up to 44% compared to imported timbers.

Sarah Fenton, commercial director at Keepmoat, Scotland said, “This partnership is a step forward in reducing carbon in our supply chain. By aligning with a supplier that controls the process from forest to frame, we gain quality assurance and a materially lower-carbon product. We’re proud to invest in UK-sourced timber, which also supports jobs across Scotland whilst also supporting our ambitious sustainability targets.”

Jim Patterson, head of timber frame at Alexanders Timber Design, added, “Our ‘Forest to Front Door’ model is true circular economy in action. We’re delighted to support Keepmoat with homegrown Scottish timber that reduces transport miles, supports local industry and delivers precision-manufactured homes at scale.”

To mark the launch of the partnership, representatives from Keepmoat visited ATD’s facility in Irvine for a business introduction and factory tour, gaining insight into its timber manufacturing process.
