Experienced construction professionals join APS board

Association for Project Safety new board appointees

THE Association for Project Safety (APS), a membership body dedicated to tackling ill-health and managing risks in the built environment sector, has appointed two new board members.

Stefan Mordue, a chartered architect and senior manager for education and partnerships at Bentley Systems, and Stewart McArthur, an independent construction assessor at Bureau Veritas, have joined the board.

Stefan Mordue’s career spans professional practice, consultancy, education, and governance. He is co-author of BIM for Construction Health and Safety (RIBA Publishing), a publication commended by the Health and Safety Executive and CPD-approved by the Association for Project Safety. He has also contributed to CIOB guidance on AI and digital twinning and was vice chair of the CIOB Digital and Innovation Panel.

Stewart McArthur has 30+ years’ experience in the construction industry. He began his career in building standards and moved into the warranty sector, before stepping into construction as a site manager. He has been involved with The Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) since 2001 and has played an active part in the Scottish regional committee for the past 14 years.

Stewart is based in Scotland and, in line with APS strategy for having board representation in the four UK jurisdictions, will keep the board appraised of developments on Scottish regulations and be the focal point of membership interests in Scotland.

Andrew Leslie, APS chief Executive, said, “The new appointments bring a diverse mix of experience and ideas to our board, which will help us better support our members. Stefan and Stewart are both highly respected professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to our board.

“Their expertise will play a key role in strengthening our efforts to promote best practice in building and infrastructure safety. Our focus is not just on overcoming challenges but on creating new opportunities to promote all aspects of construction industry safety.  The appointments of Stefan and Stewart to the APS Board will help us move forward in that mission.”
