TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland has commenced work on the build of the first new homes at Whitefield Gardens in Dunfermline.
The work follows recent approval of matters specified in conditions (AMSC) granted by Fife Council for the first 68 homes. Whitefield Gardens will deliver a variety of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.
The development will incorporate features linked to the site’s heritage, including a character seating area built around the original dated lintel from the former Wester Whitefields farm buildings. Incidental play spaces will be integrated throughout to encourage informal outdoor activity.
Infrastructure works – both on and off-site – have been underway for several months, laying the groundwork for the long-term vision of Whitefields. Once complete, the masterplan will deliver around 1,400 new homes, a new primary school, shops and community facilities, green space, and improved transport connections.
Plans also include new cycleways and footpaths to support safe routes to school, enhancements to Kingseat Road (West) and Whitefield Road (B912), and the integration of the Northern Link Road.
The provision of green spaces will play a central role in the neighbourhood, with meadow grasslands, equipped play areas, and biodiversity measures such as bird bricks and hedgehog highways designed to help create a healthy and sustainable place to live.
Pauline Mills, technical director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said, “Securing our first AMSC planning consent in November last year has allowed us to progress quickly into the construction phase at Whitefield Gardens, and we’re pleased to see work on the first new homes underway. This is an important early milestone in bringing the wider Whitefields masterplan to life. And as we progress on site, each step in delivering new homes, infrastructure and community facilities helps turn our long‑term vision for a vibrant new neighbourhood in north Dunfermline into reality.”
