Second phase of Fife affordable housing development completes

WORK has been completed on the second phase of a housing development in Kennoway delivered in partnership with Robertson Construction Eastern and Fife Council.

The 20 properties at Langside Crescent form part of a wider project to provide 63 council houses on the site of a former primary school. The first phase, completed last year, delivered 43 houses.

The properties include a mix of detached and semi-detached units, as well as amenity and wheelchair-accessible bungalows. The development has been supported by grant funding of £5.255 million from the Scottish Government’s affordable housing supply programme.

Councillor Judy Hamilton, Fife Council’s housing spokesperson, said, “This handover is another important milestone in our commitment to tackling the housing emergency in Fife. These new houses will provide families and individuals with safe, warm, and energy-efficient places to live, helping to improve health and wellbeing. Every new council house makes a real difference to people’s lives and strengthens our communities.”

All of the properties feature ‘high-performance’ insulation and windows, and modern heating systems. They also have PV panels and sprinkler systems.

This development is the second of seven projects Robertson has been contracted to deliver for Fife Council across the region.

An estimated 272 local people have been employed on the contract, and over £10 million has been spent with local micro, small, and medium enterprises – in addition to donations to local charities and schools.

Gordon Milne, regional MD, Robertson Construction Eastern, said, “Reaching this milestone in Kennoway marks another positive step in a long-standing working relationship with Fife Council. As one of a number of projects being delivered together across the region, it demonstrates how a collaborative approach can support the council’s response to the housing emergency while also supporting the local economy. We look forward to continuing this partnership as work progresses on further developments across Fife.”
