WORK to double the capacity of a learning facility for Stirling’s young people with additional support needs has reached a key milestone.
Bluebell House, situated on the grounds of Bannockburn High School, currently offers bespoke accommodation for up to 24 pupils and is fitted with classrooms, nurture nooks, a sensory room, and a GP room in addition to facilities for staff and administration.
The facility opened its doors to pupils in August 2025 in time for the beginning of the school term. The extension of the building will bring the capacity of Bluebell House up to 48 pupils.
Earlier this month, the timber frame of the extension was completed, a positive indicator that the building project is on schedule, with the building currently estimated to open to staff and additional pupils in August 2026.
Hub East Central Scotland is delivering the project on behalf of Stirling Council, with Ogilvie Construction as the main contractor. Work began on the extension to Bluebell House in September 2025 with the second phase of the project costing an estimated £4.3 million, bringing the total project investment for the facility to £9.4 million.
Grier Edmead, operations director at Ogilvie Construction, said, “The site team have made excellent progress since work started on site last year and will now move on to external envelope work and internal fit out as they work towards completion this summer.”
Brian Craig, chief executive of Hub East Central Scotland, added, “It’s great to see the delivery of this second phase of Bluebell House progressing so well. There has been a strong collaborative approach with partners throughout this project and we look forward to delivering a high quality bespoke space that will benefit learners with special needs across the area.”
