STAFF and customers from the Paisley branch of St Andrews Timber & Building Supplies have helped deliver festive cheer to the town’s STAR Project.
The initiative is an award-winning community organisation that delivers positive social outcomes, building safer, more connected, and resilient communities in Renfrewshire.
St Andrews gathered donations from staff and customers of essentials such as rice, pasta, soups, and festive treats including selection boxes. A cash contribution was also made.
“The STAR Project in Paisley tackles food insecurity in Renfrewshire and we were only too happy to help support what is a fantastic charity,” said Stephen Burt, general manager of St Andrews’ Paisley branch. “Their community fridge provides emergency free food for those in need, something which really hits home at this time of year.
“We were pleased to contribute and help in some way to ease the difficulties being experienced by those members of the community for whom Christmas is a particularly difficult time. Many thanks to everyone who stopped by to donate their gifts, they will make such a difference to people this Christmas.”
The STAR Project was set up in 1999 to focus on tackling the impacts, and associated stigma, of poverty and deprivation prevalent in the local communities through a systemic approach to building resilience.
