CLARK Contracts has been recognised with four shortlistings at the 2026 Scottish Property Awards, which takes place on February 26.
The contractor’s retrofit of Scotland’s National Retrofit Centre for BE-ST has been shortlisted for Net Zero Development of the Year. The project represents the first phase of retrofit and refurbishment works across BE-ST’s Innovation Campus, aiming to decarbonise the site to meet the International EnerPHit standard and Scotland’s net zero public sector building targets. The project was delivered in collaboration with John Gilbert Architects, Brown + Wallace, Luths Services, and Narro Associates.
Clark Contracts’ design and build of The Pepper Mill in Edinburgh for Danehurst Developments has been named a finalist in the Student Accommodation of the Year category. The purpose-built facility on Dunedin Street provides 155 student beds alongside a reception, lounge, games room, communal kitchen, gym, library, and group study spaces. The project team included ISA Architecture & Design, F3 Building Surveyors, Rybka, and Fairhurst.
The contractor also has two projects shortlisted for the Renovation Project of the Year Award. The first is The Briggait Clydeside Market Halls delivered for Wasps Trust. Clark Contracts completed the refurbishment and conservation of the Category A listed building, to transform the building into a culture and creative industries hub that reconnects the building with the River Clyde. This project was delivered alongside Collective Architecture, Doig + Smith, Brown + Wallace, and Narro Associates.
The firm’s refurbishment of the B-listed Edinburgh Filmhouse is also shortlisted in this category. The works included the upgrading of the cinema screens with new seating, enhanced accessibility and better sightlines in all three screens with the creation of a fourth screen. The project was delivered with Atkins Realis, Unick Consulting, Wilden Building Services, G&W Contracting, and DCF Design.
Gordon Cunningham, MD of Clark Contracts, said, “We’re proud to see four of our projects recognised at the Scottish Property Awards. This recognition demonstrates our ability to deliver a diverse range of high-quality projects from pioneering net zero innovation to conserving historic landmarks, across the industry.”
