Natural stone specialist is all ‘sett’ with new heritage offering

Tradstocks Heritage Setts used on Edinburgh street

STIRLING-headquartered Tradstocks, a supplier of natural stone products for building and landscaping projects, has launched a new product – Tradstocks Heritage Setts – which are made of locally quarried and processed Scottish Whinstone.

The local sourcing reduces carbon footprint and helps contractors and customers meet net zero aspirations.

The setts, which mimic traditional Edinburgh setts, were supplied to Balfour Beatty as part of a wider order of natural stone products for the Melville Street and Crescent City Centre West to East Link (CCWEL) public realm project.

Tradstocks has now added Heritage Setts to the firm’s core range of products. Since this Edinburgh New Town project was part a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Edinburgh World Heritage Trust approved the natural stone products. The Tradstocks Heritage Setts have now been included within the wider specification and design for the regeneration of Edinburgh’s New Town, including the George Street public realm project.

Tradstocks explained the setts are ‘safer and easier’ to use because of their slip-resistant surfaces, and are ideal for cyclists, walkers, and people using wheelchairs. They also help reduce road noise compared to traditional setts.

Mark Freedman, director of Tradstocks, said, “We are delighted to introduce Tradstocks Heritage Setts to our core range. After successfully introducing them to a significant public realm project, we are proud to play our part in preserving the heritage of our built environment. Tradstocks Heritage Setts technical data sheets are now available for specification purposes.”
