MCTAGGART Construction has completed a 41-unit affordable housing development at Fauldhead, Kirkintilloch.
The development comprises 28 flats and 13 terrace houses, which have now been handed over to Hillhead Housing Association.
The homes represent a significant addition to Hillhead’s existing stock of 830 properties and mark the association’s first development project in five years, coinciding with its 21st anniversary milestone.
The project was part funded by the Scottish Government via an Allia charitable bond, with C-urb acting as development agent throughout the construction phase.
Chair of Hillhead Housing committee, John Jamieson, said, “Hillhead Housing Association are delighted to take handover of these high quality properties. Providing warm, secure and affordable homes for the local community is our primary objective. The properties have been allocated to people who are homeless or in housing need and this means that they can now get on with living their lives and fulfilling their potential free from uncertainty over their housing situation.”
Janice Russell, MD of McTaggart Construction, added, “We’re proud to complete and hand over these 41 quality affordable homes to Hillhead Housing Association. This development demonstrates our commitment to tackling Scotland’s housing crisis and making a real difference to local communities. Building quality affordable homes positively changes lives, and we’re delighted to have delivered this much needed housing project for Kirkintilloch.”
McTaggart Construction revealed that it added value to the site and supported the local community throughout the project by delivering a community benefit programme that created jobs, provided local sponsorship, and engaged with hundreds of school students from St Ninian’s and Kirkintilloch High Schools.
