MCTAGGART Construction has been officially accredited as a Living Wage employer.
The Living Wage accreditation demonstrates McTaggart Construction’s commitment to ensuring all employees earn a wage that meets the real cost of living – going beyond the government minimum to provide fair compensation that reflects everyday expenses.
Janice Russell, MD at McTaggart Construction, commented, “Our team members are the foundation of our success, and this accreditation reflects our dedication to valuing their contribution and supporting their wellbeing. Fair pay is fundamental to building a motivated, loyal workforce.”
The real Living Wage is independently calculated based on the cost of living and is voluntarily paid by over 16,000 employers in the UK, – including 4,000 employers in Scotland – who believe their employees deserve a wage based on the cost of living. Unlike the government minimum wage, the Living Wage is calculated according to the basic cost of living and applies to all workers over 18.
McTaggart Construction joins a growing movement of employers across the UK who are committed to tacking in-work poverty and supporting economic security for working people and their families.
Grant Alexander, head of community wellbeing at Link Group, one of McTaggart Construction’s clients, commented, “Paying the Living Wage isn’t just about fairness, it’s about building stronger communities. In construction, it means creating stable, dignified jobs for local residents and ensuring customers benefit from a skilled, motivated workforce that’s proud to build the future.”
Grace Anderson, HR manager at McTaggart Construction, added, “We encourage other businesses in the construction sector and beyond to consider the positive impact that fair wages can have on their workforce and their business as a whole.”
Lynn Anderson, Living Wage Scotland manager, commented, “We’re delighted to welcome McTaggart to our growing network of accredited living wage employers. Their commitment sends a powerful message – that fair pay leads to a happier, healthier and more motivated workforce.
“Our Living Wage network includes employers from across all sectors and industries, and we hope to see many more join McTaggart in going further than the minimum.”
