ROBERTSON Homes is launching its Santa Paws initiative this weekend to help the Scottish SPCA cover the cost of Christmas at their rescue centres.

The Stirling-based housebuilder is inviting people to drop off donations of pet food, toys, and blankets at any of its developments across northern and central Scotland, which the company will then deliver to rescue centres in time for Christmas.

Robertson Homes will also make a £1,000 contribution to the Scottish SPCA and visitors who bring their dogs to a development will be given a canine Christmas present for their pooches. They can also take part in the ‘Pooch Pawtrait’ competition, with prizes on offer for the most festive photos of dogs taken in Robertson’s showhomes in the run up to the big day. Visitors can also collect a free leaflet showing the best dog walks in their local area.

Sharon Spinelli, sales and marketing director at Robertson Homes said, “Since 1839, the Scottish SPCA has been helping animals find their perfect forever homes, which is more than 150 years longer than we have been doing the same for their owners! The charity does an amazing job and we know their resources can be stretched, particularly over the festive period.

“Sadly, there is always a spike in the number of dogs and cats going into adoption centres after Christmas, so it’s our aim to help stock up the shelves for the Scottish SPCA and make it easier for local people to also give their support in helping make animals’ lives better.”

Megan Stobo, partnership development manager at Scottish SPCA, added, “Christmas is a busy time at our centres and support like this makes such a difference to the animals in our care. We rely entirely on the generosity of our partners and the public, so every donation helps us give animals the comfort they deserve while they wait for a new forever home. We are so grateful to everyone taking part in the Robertson Homes Santa Paws initiative and helping us make this Christmas a little brighter for Scotland’s animals.”

The Santa Paws campaign runs from Saturday 22 November to Monday 15 December at the following Robertson Homes developments:

Torvean – Golf View Road, Inverness

Meadowside – Crawfield Road, Bo’ness

Almondell – Calderwood Road, East Calder

Shawfair – Cocklerow Gardens, Dalkeith

St Margarets – Firth Road, Rosslynlee

People wishing to donate pet food are asked to only drop off non-raw food which is within the use-by date and can find development opening hours at  https://www.robertsonhomes.co.uk/
