HFD Property Group, the development division of the wider HFD Group, has appointed Charles Harte as development director to oversee the delivery of its 95 Bothwell Street hotel redevelopment in Glasgow city centre.

Working alongside HFD’s hotel joint venture partner, Partners-To Group, Charles will lead the redevelopment of the B-listed building into a ‘high-quality, upscale’ hotel. The project will repurpose the currently ‘outdated’ office property into a destination featuring 235 guest rooms, a restaurant, leisure facilities, and corporate meeting and private dining spaces.

The American-Classical style commercial building, which recently served as a backdrop for the filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will undergo a conservation-led restoration designed to celebrate its architectural character while delivering ‘high-quality space with strong environmental credentials’.

Charles has more than 25 years of experience in delivering hospitality and redevelopment projects across the UK and Europe. His career highlights include leading the Gleneagles Townhouse redevelopment in Edinburgh, as well as directing major projects for Adriatic Marinas in Montenegro and Malmaison & Hotel du Vin in London.

Beyond 95 Bothwell Street, Charles will also lend his expertise to other HFD Property Group projects, including the redevelopment of 6 Blythswood Square and the company’s office portfolio.

He said, “HFD has a well-earned reputation for delivering exceptional, high-quality developments, a standard that strongly resonates with my own experience. The 95 Bothwell Street project represents an opportunity to restore one of Glasgow’s most distinctive heritage buildings and reimagine it as a destination hotel of unique character and quality. Sustainability has been central to our planning approach, and I’m looking forward to working with the team to bring this landmark back to life and to contribute across HFD’s wider property projects.”

Stephen Lewis, MD of HFD Property Group, added, “Charles brings a wealth of experience in luxury hotel and property development, both in the UK and internationally. His appointment comes at a key time as we progress with the 95 Bothwell Street redevelopment and continue to expand our pipeline of premium, sustainable projects. His leadership and insight will be invaluable as we deliver this exciting addition to Glasgow’s city centre and enhance HFD’s reputation for best-in-class developments.”
