ENGINEERING consultancy Harley Haddow has announced the launch of an in-house geotechnical and geoenvironmental capability, led by new senior engineer Conor Fitzsimmons.

This move is designed to enhance the firm’s ability to assess and manage below-ground risks from the start of a project, ensuring a fully integrated design approach alongside its civil and structural engineering teams.

The new service includes site investigations and reporting from Phase 1 desk studies through to Phase 3 remediation strategies, coal mining risk assessments, contamination assessments, and foundation advice.

Conor, who will be based in Harley Haddow’s Glasgow office, previously worked as a geo-environmental engineer at Mason Evans Partnership and, most recently, served as geotechnical project manager at Ardmore Point Ltd.

Colin Tait, director at Harley Haddow, said, “Bringing geotechnical expertise in-house further enhances our offering to clients while strengthening our own capabilities. Conor will be a valuable addition to Harley Haddow and our multi-disciplinary approach.”

Conor Fitzsimmons added, “My role at Harley Haddow gives me the opportunity to establish and develop an in-house geotechnical and geoenvironmental service is one I’m very proud to lead. Working closely with our civil and structural teams will allow us to deliver more coordinated, efficient and sustainable solutions for our clients.”
