THE Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is marking World Kindness Day (13 November) by celebrating the acts of kindness that set great builders apart.
From comforting homeowners in stressful situations to lending a hand beyond the job site, the organisation said master builders across the UK show that kindness is a cornerstone of quality workmanship.
With construction often associated with high-pressure environments and tight deadlines, the FMB wants to shine a light on those who take the time to show care, compassion, and respect for clients, colleagues, and their communities.
FMB members have shared examples of kindness on site, from helping elderly clients navigate home disruptions to mentoring apprentices and supporting local charities. Through initiatives like the Master Builder Awards, the FMB revealed that it continues to recognise members who make a positive difference both inside and outside the workplace.
Brian Berry, chief executive of the FMB, said, “Kindness is not often the first word people associate with the building industry, but it should be. Our members know that every project is personal to the homeowner. It takes patience, communication and empathy to turn someone’s vision into a reality and that’s exactly what our members do.”
This World Kindness Day, the FMB is encouraging everyone in the building trade to take a moment to check in with a colleague, show appreciation for good work, or lend support to someone in need.
