Build of £38m Glasgow student apartment project set for completion in summer 2026

THE £38 million build of St Vincent Studios in Glasgow is on schedule for completion in summer 2026, the developers have said.

The news comes as a time lapse video is released documenting the progress on the build of the 321 self-contained student studio apartments – with GRAHAM commencing construction in November 2024.

Designed to meet the needs of Glasgow’s growing student population, the development will provide purpose-built studio apartments over 16 floors, together with a range of additional facilities and amenities. This includes a reception area, study rooms and communal meeting spaces together with a gym, cinema room, roof-top private dining, private roof terraces, and internal cycle storage for 160 bikes.

The development is a joint venture bringing together regeneration-specialist Artisan Real Estate with equity investor Housing Growth Partnership. The project, which is being delivered by GRAHAM, will be operated by Homes for Students, a student management company.

David Westwater, Artisan Real Estate development director for Scotland, said, “It’s very exciting to witness this eye-catching development rising out of the ground in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre. The site is in a superb city centre location and meets the urgent need for high-quality student accommodation in the city, especially for individual studio apartments.

“The more longer-term student market we are targeting will bring energy and investment to the city centre and ensure the deliverability of a superbly designed development to replace an existing office block which had remained vacant for the many years.”

Colin Bennett, investment director at Housing Growth Partnership, added, “This is our second joint venture with Artisan Real Estate and underlines our confidence in the purpose-built student accommodation sector at a time when economic and planning constraints are impacting new developments coming forward.”

Martin Corbett, chief executive officer of Homes for Students, commented, “We are proud to be working closely with Artisan Real Estate to ensure this will be a best-in-class, purpose-built scheme. We will be creating high quality accommodation and amenities for students to enjoy, providing an exceptional user experience using the skills of our property team to foster and support student wellbeing whilst closely integrating with the local community.”
