THE House of Hope, Scotland’s first dedicated wellbeing and support centre for people with breast cancer, has unveiled a donation of 21 sliding sash windows from supporter Victorian Sliders to create a ‘timeless finish’ to the facility in Gorgie, Edinburgh.
The Welsh-based company, which supplies its products to businesses and consumers across Scotland, generously provided all of the made-to-measure double-glazed windows for The House of Hope’s old farmhouse. Victorian Sliders was introduced to the centre by its Scottish trading partner EuroCell, which also helped secure the installation donation.
The partnership marks a milestone for the charity, which started providing services to visitors over the summer and will officially launch this week during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The windows allow for effective heat and energy maintenance, saving on energy bills, meaning the centre can direct more resources towards support programmes for those impacted by breast cancer.
Founded by Lisa Fleming, who was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in 2017, with husband Euan, The House of Hope will provide a supportive space for people impacted by breast cancer, as well as access to holistic therapies and wellbeing services.
Nick Evans, CEO of Victorian Sliders, said, “At Victorian Sliders, we’re proud to support projects that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Donating our UK-manufactured, ECOSlide sliding sash windows to The House of Hope aligns perfectly with our values. It’s a privilege to contribute to such a worthwhile initiative and help create a safe, welcoming space for those in need.”
The House of Hope founder Lisa Fleming added, “It’s so important for small charities like ours to have this kind of support from businesses across the UK – we couldn’t do it without sponsors like Victorian Sliders and we’re beyond grateful for its incredible donation. The House of Hope is designed to be a haven for patients and their families following a breast cancer diagnosis, away from clinical settings but still supporting medical treatment. This donation brings is allowing the charity to provide the much-needed community space and compassionate support we know is so vital for patients.”
