KNIGHT Frank has announced the appointment of Simon Capaldi as the new head of its Glasgow office agency team.

Simon has been with the commercial property consultancy in Edinburgh since 2013, becoming a partner four years later. He previously held roles at GVA, Spiers Gumley, and Birch McCulloch and has advised clients in the USA and across Europe.

In his new role – after providing support in Glasgow over the past 18 months – Simon will lead Knight Frank’s office agency service in the city, with a particular focus on landlord lettings strategies and further developing the team. He will also continue to provide support for occupiers across Scotland’s central belt.

Knight Frank is instructed on a number of well-known office buildings in Glasgow, including St Vincent Plaza and 5 Cadogan Street. The firm also works with a range of occupiers, recently advising engineering group WSP on the acquisition of 18,500 sq. ft. of Grade A office space at 110 Queen Street.

Simon Capaldi said, “I’m very excited about my new role – the Glasgow market is vast and there is a lot of activity, despite the challenges of recent years. In many ways it is similar to Edinburgh – specifically a lack of high quality, Grade A supply and occupier demand for micro-locations – but the key difference is the large amount of refurbished space in Glasgow and the opportunity it presents.

“With my experience and knowledge of both cities, my initial focus will be on enhancing the connections we have between our teams, sharing knowledge, and bringing in different perspectives to the benefit of clients. With that, we can also further support our other service lines – such as industrial, building consultancy and capital markets – with the best possible market intelligence.”

John Rae, head of office at Knight Frank Glasgow, added, “Simon has been with Knight Frank for well over a decade and is one of the central belt’s best-known office agents. He brings invaluable experience to the Glasgow office and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact he will make with his new role focused on the city, helping to grow the team in the months and years ahead.”
