The new three-bedroom Brambleford housetype

TAYLOR Wimpey East Scotland has secured planning consent to build 214 new homes off Corby Craig Terrace and Reeforts Avenue in the village of Bilston, Midlothian.

This site will include 25% affordable housing, offering a mix of two and three-bedroom properties anticipated for social rent. The housebuilder revealed it has also acquired the land, with pre-construction work already underway.

The approved plans for Pentland Gardens feature a variety of two, three, and four-bedroom homes. The development will also introduce a new range of homes that Taylor Wimpey plans to build in Scotland.

Along with developer contributions of at least £3.5 million towards the A701 relief road and primary and secondary education, plans for Pentland Gardens include installing bug hotels, bird and bat boxes, bee-friendly planting, and high-quality landscaping to enhance biodiversity. Each new home will have solar PV panels to help reduce the overall carbon footprint.

Pauline Mills, technical director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said, “We are pleased to have received planning consent for our development in Bilston, which will see us return to this popular location. This planning approval represents our ongoing commitment to investing in the local Midlothian area and delivering high-quality homes.

“We have also acquired the land required to deliver our Pentland Gardens development, and a programme of pre-construction work is already underway. The development will also bring significant economic benefits to the local Bilston and wider Midlothian area, including the creation of new jobs during the construction phase and increased business for local shops and services from new residents.”
