CCG confirms new board appointment

CCG (Scotland) has announced the promotion of long-serving employee Gary Weir to the role of technical director.

Gary first joined CCG in 2006 as a site manager, before progressing to project manager. He later led the formation of the firm’s technical department, which it said has proven to be ‘transformative’ for the business.

David Wylie, CCG MD, commented, “It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Gary to our board. His work in recent years has helped CCG and our subsidiaries navigate a sustained period of market volatility and cost inflationary pressures, and I have no doubt that the foundations he has laid alongside his departmental team members will be incredibly valuable to us in the years ahead.

“The idea was to create a focused pre-construction service team that delivered a full suite of design and delivery information to smooth the onsite construction process for our construction teams and ensure a design-compliant project. As our team and approach has evolved, the service has become an incredibly valuable tool not just for CCG, but also to our clients and design partners.”

After a brief spell away from CCG in 2019, Gary returned to lead a ‘leaner, more focused’ department.

“That period really clarified our purpose,” Gary said. “It was all about refining our processes— from how we programme jobs, to how we communicate change — and making sure we added value from day one rather than being involved at a later stage. By doing so, we can broker solutions to realise real cost and time savings, a fundamental advantage during a time of housing emergency and cost inflationary pressures.”

CCG’s technical department is embedded within the wider business. Rather than operate as a standalone unit, the team works hand-in-hand with every internal division – from site delivery to manufacturing – to co-develop project strategies.

“Compliance isn’t just about ticking boxes,” Gary noted. “It’s about improving protocols, identifying gaps, and reporting them statistically to support better cost and quality control.”

With his appointment to the board, Gary’s focus now turns to embedding that same culture of value and precision across CCG’s wider strategic vision.

“Senior managers at CCG are very hands-on. We’re responsible for making sure projects are not only deliverable, but affordable, sustainable, and maintenance-friendly,” Gary said. “My priority is to help the business scale by strengthening our compliance protocols and systems — essentially building an ‘imaginary conveyor belt’ that moves projects smoothly from concept to site.”
