FOR EV, a Scotland-based provider of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, has announced it is expanding its European footprint with a major installation in Sweden.
In partnership with Stena Line, the company has installed its largest EV charging infrastructure to date at Karlskrona Port. This marks the second collaboration between the two businesses, following the energisation of Stena Line’s UK site at Cairnryan Port, near Stranraer.
The partnership removes any costs for Stena Line and provides EV charging for its customers. The agreement includes the installation, operation and maintenance of rapid charging stations for all types of electric vehicles.
The new charging hub consists of 54 charge points supplying 1,200 kilowatts (kW) across the site. FOR EV has installed a combination of AC and DC charging technology.
The venture marks FOR EV’s first project delivered outside of the UK.
Steve Dunlop, CEO at FOR EV, said, “This project demonstrates our commitment to deliver top-tier EV infrastructure. Our largest project to date, it showcases our ability to scale and meet growing demand, both in terms of capacity and geographical reach. It ensures that everyone visiting Karlskrona Port, whether for leisure or business, will have access to modern and reliable EV charging facilities.
“Our goal is to make the EV charging experience as seamless as possible, allowing travellers to charge their vehicles before or after their ferry journey, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all users.”
Monica Strandhag, CEO of Karlskrona Baltic Port AB, added, “The installation of EV charging points is a practical step that supports our work to modernise the port and reduce environmental impact. It’s a good example of how strong partnerships can deliver meaningful improvements in infrastructure.”
Ewa Janik, port manager at Stena Line, said, “This development improves the services we can offer to passengers travelling through Karlskrona. Collaborating with FOR EV and the Port has made it possible to respond to growing demand in a straightforward and effective way.”
