PAISLEY-based Clark Contracts is in the process of completing a £6.6m CAT B fit-out of four levels within the Aurora Building at 120 Bothwell Street in Glasgow, for SSE.
The newly refurbished space will provide 62,000 sq. ft. of office space for SSE’s distribution, transmission and Eastern Green Link teams.
As part of the works, the building’s fifth, sixth, and seventh floors, as well as a section of the ground floor, will be refurbished to provide a 180-person conference suite, a catering kitchen, breakout space and meeting rooms.
The Aurora Building has achieved Net Zero Carbon, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ‘A+’ rating, BREEAM ‘Excellent’, and is 100% powered by renewable sources. The refurbishment of the building is also tipped to deliver a 77% reduction in carbon emissions compared to an equivalent new build property.
Gardiner & Theobald is acting as project manager and quantity surveyors on the project, with c2:concepts as architect, Atelier Ten as M&E engineer, Will Rudd as structural engineer, and CDM Scotland as principal designer.
David Tate, director of property & FM at SSE, said, “Following a rigorous selection process, SSE is pleased to be partnering with Clark Contracts to progress the fit out of our new office premises at the Aurora Building. SSE continues to invest billions into the net zero transition, with the lease acquisition within this highly sustainable building supporting the delivery of these plans.”
Gerry Cummins, Clark Contracts director, added, “We are proud to have been appointed to deliver the CAT B fit out of the Aurora building for our new client, SSE. This is a significant project in a prime city centre location, and we are working closely with the wider project team to ensure it is delivered to the highest standard. Our team brings extensive experience in delivering complex fit outs in constrained urban environments, with over 400,000 sq. ft. of high-quality office space completed in recent years.”
