A groundbreaking ceremony has been held to mark the start of construction of 25 new homes in the Nitshill area of Glasgow.

Clark Contracts is leading the work at Station Wynd on behalf of Strathcarron Developments. The development will feature a collection of two and three-bedroom homes aimed at first-time buyers, young families, and local residents.

As part of a funding partnership with the Scottish National Investment Bank and Glasgow City Council, the first release of homes will prioritise local buyers and those stepping onto the property ladder for the first time. This approach aims to support home ownership and strengthen community ties.

Each home has been designed with modern living in mind, incorporating energy efficient features such as air-source heat pumps to provide a sustainable and cost effective alternative to traditional heating systems.

Dallas Rhodes, of Strathcarron Developments, commented, “Station Wynd is about creating homes that are practical, sustainable and accessible for local people. We’re proud to be bringing forward a development that supports first-time buyers and helps families stay in the community they know and love.”

Michael Scanlan, director at Clark Contracts, added, “We are delighted to be working with Strathcarron Homes to deliver these high-quality, energy efficient homes for Nitshill. It’s a fantastic project that combines thoughtful design with sustainable construction.”

The project received loan finance of £3.9 million from the Scottish National Investment Bank. The site is being developed as part of Glasgow City Council’s wider Nitshill regeneration framework and is being supported by a partnership support for regeneration grant from the Scottish Government, administered by Glasgow City Council.

Susan Campbell, director, market creation (place) of the Scottish National Investment Bank, added, “We are delighted to support Strathcarron Developments in delivering these much-needed homes. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission of creating sustainable, high-quality and affordable housing solutions for the community.”
