KIRKHILL Golf Club’s annual charity fundraiser on June 19 has raised an impressive £18,740 for Beatson Cancer Charity and Lintel Trust.
Airdrie-based DMI Fire and Security was the event’s main sponsor, with Galliford Try and AS Scaffolding also backing the event, which brought together 84 players in a spirited day of golf, giving, and community support.
Due to traditional funding sources tightening and competition for grants increasing, events like Kirkhill’s annual charity fundraiser have become ‘essential lifelines’ for many charitable organisations, Lintel Trust explained.
Douglas McFarlane, of Kirkhill Golf Club, said, “Fundraising events like this are not just about the money – they’re about building relationships and reminding people that small communities can make a big impact.
“We’re proud to support both Beatson Cancer Charity and Lintel Trust, and to show what’s possible when people come together for a cause.”
The proceeds will provide a significant cash injection to Lintel Trust’s small grant fund, which supports community-led housing projects and services that improve the quality of life for vulnerable people. The funding will allow Lintel to extend its reach and provide critical support to projects that often struggle to find backing.
Meanwhile, Beatson Cancer Charity will use its share of the funds to continue its vital work, which includes patient care, cancer research, and support for families affected by the disease.
Both charities wish to express their sincerest thanks to everyone involved in making the day such a success. Representatives from both charities said, “We are truly grateful to Kirkhill Golf Club, DMI Fire and Security, all the sponsors, volunteers, and players whose generosity and enthusiasm made this event possible.
“As charities working to support vulnerable individuals and families, events like this have a direct and lasting impact. The support shown on the day was overwhelming, and we cannot thank you enough.”
