ADRIAN Whitefoot has been elected as the new chair of the MCRMA (Metal Cladding & Roofing Manufacturers Association), the trade body representing the metal building envelopes sector.
Adrian, who is special projects manager at aluminium façade and roof systems specialist Kalzip, succeeds Clare Fenton who has completed her four-year term, during which time she helped to steer the association through significant change for the roofing and cladding sector.
This included working with members and industry bodies to respond to and adapt to new standards, encourage and support the organisation in developing technical information for the broader sector and help with the development of a workable framework for demonstrating competence, particularly as part of the JCI (Joint Competency Initiative) and the Super Sector Programme.
Adrian, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the sector, will be supported by a new look management committee which has seen the appointment of Mick Steeples, sales director at Fixing Point, Mark Simpson, senior technical sales manager at Sealprem, and Nick Selves, an industrial roofing and cladding consultant with EDP Building Sciences.
“I’m delighted to be elected as chair of the MCRMA and look forward to working closely with the management committee to ensure we continue to offer the highest quality support to the metal building envelope sector, and make sure our industry’s voice is heard clearly at a time of the most significant change in construction in a lifetime.
“Clare’s expertise and vision has been tremendously positive for our association and our members and I would personally like to thank her for being an excellent chair. I very much intend to build on the platform she has created and ensure the MCRMA’s reputation in the construction industry for high quality technical guidance continues to grow stronger.”
Clare Fenton added, “Adrian has always been a great ambassador for the metal building envelope sector, which shows through his long term involvement with the MCRMA. He is ideally suited to the role of chair and I look forward to what will be an exciting next era in the association’s development.”
