CONSTRUCTION and property consultancy Thomas & Adamson has announced the appointment of project manager Mark Humphries as a director.

Mark brings over two decades of industry experience to the firm’s project management division, most recently as a partner at Gardiner & Theobald. His prior experience includes roles at Mott MacDonald and a spell as a self-employed consultant. Before turning to a career in the construction sector, Mark played professional football for teams including Aberdeen and Leeds United in the 1990s.

High-profile projects he has been involved in include the £250 million Sighthill Transformational Regeneration project, encompassing 1,000 new homes, new roads, transport infrastructure, drainage and utilities to connect the community. He has also supported the development of XLCC’s £2 billion subsea cable manufacturing plant in Ayrshire; the £70 million build-to-rent residential scheme at Candleriggs Square; a £68 million extension and refurbishment project for the National Galleries of Scotland; and the £80 million Avenues Project for Glasgow City Council.

Focusing on the west of Scotland and based in Glasgow, Mark will support Thomas & Adamson with its growth and expansion into new sectors. Last year, Thomas & Adamson was acquired by global architectural, advisory, construction engineering and mobility services firm Egis.

Zander Muego, director at Thomas & Adamson, said, “Mark has extensive experience in project management spanning two decades of working in Scotland, and we are pleased to welcome him into the fold. As a team, we are working across a range of exciting buildings in all kinds of sectors that will benefit from Mark’s support and guidance, adding to the expertise we have currently. As part of Egis we are now seeing even more collaborative work coming through, so it is an ideal time to strengthen the team.”

Mark Humphries added, “I’ve worked with various members of the Thomas & Adamson team throughout my years in the industry, and the offer to join the project management division came at an opportune time. I am looking forward to the new challenges that it will present, with the chance to help shape the future direction for the department, as well as day-to-day involvement in projects.”
