THIS year’s Water Saving Week, 12 -16 May, has the theme of ‘small waste, big impact’ and is a reminder that even small everyday habits towards water conservation can lead to meaningful lasting change.
With climate pressures and unpredictable weather patterns growing, water is increasingly recognised as a fragile resource. In the UK in particular, the variable weather patterns are shifting and the country is experiencing wetter summers, drier winters, disrupted water cycles and extreme weather. The country is experiencing its driest start to Spring in 69 years, with water companies under pressure to cut leaks and help customers save water.
Water Saving Week encourages individuals and organisations to take on manageable daily challenges to reduce water waste, for instance by reducing shower time and selecting water-saving mode on the dishwasher. With the impacts of climate change becoming increasingly visible, preserving water supports ecosystems and reduces the strain on infrastructure.
Duraproducts is a pioneer of sustainable construction and has witnessed a surge in demand for its eco-friendly solutions. Innovations, including the Duradrain – the company’s combined kerbing and drainage system, offers a sustainable alternative to traditional materials. Manufactured from lightweight, hydraulically efficient recycled polymers, the system delivers a high usable volume with low carbon outputs, minimising environmental impact without compromising performance.
By embracing circular economy principles and engineering innovation, Duraproducts is helping reshape the way the construction industry approaches drainage, offering solutions that are high-performing and aligned with environmental priorities.
Water Saving Week promotes the importance of sustainability in water management and how innovative drainage systems can drive meaningful change for climate change.
