PROCAST Group has built a new Lanimer Shed in Lanark Moor Country Park for South Lanarkshire Council — just in time to support preparations for one of the town’s most popular annual traditions.

The £700,000 project, completed over 30 weeks and within budget, provides a modern community workshop and committee hub for the construction of Lanimer lorries and wider community use.

The steel portal frame structure, clad with insulated panels, was delivered ahead of Lanimer Week 2025, which begins on June 8.

Constructed using driven piling for the foundations, the facility includes full groundworks, drainage, a floor slab, mechanical and electrical services, and external landscaping. It features a Klargester waste tank and reed bed system to manage drainage sustainably.

Throughout the project, Procast said it maintained strong relationships with neighbours at the local riding centre, pausing work when requested to avoid disruption and even donating funds to support beginner riding sessions for children.

The opening of the facility was marked by a community event attended by local residents and Lanimer Committee members. Lanimer Queen Lacey Steele and Queen-elect Maisey Talbot cut the ceremonial ribbon before planting a birch tree to mark the occasion.

Derek Innes, MD of Procast Group, said, “We’re proud to have delivered a facility that will serve not just a practical purpose, but a cultural one too. The Lanimer Shed is a real community hub that will bring people together and support an iconic Lanark tradition for generations to come. We’re especially pleased that it’s being put to good use so quickly, with preparations for the 2025 celebrations already well underway.”

Procast added that the firm’s commitment to community benefit extended beyond the build itself. A local security company was employed to protect the site out of hours, while a trainee manager role was created to support the construction team. Further training including SMSTS and First Aid courses have been scheduled.
