THE leader of Angus Council has visited the site of the new Monifieth Learning Campus to see the progress made on the £66.5 million project, with construction nearing completion.

Robertson Construction Tayside is delivering the project on a site next to the current Monifieth High School. The campus will feature a 25-metre swimming pool, theatre and performance spaces, flexible classrooms, early learning and childcare facilities, and ‘extensive’ sports amenities.

The Monifieth Learning Campus forms part of phase two of the national Learning Estate Investment Programme (LEIP), with capital funding provided by Angus Council and revenue support from the Scottish Government upon completion.

Elliot Robertson, CEO of Robertson Group, said, “As we near completion, on time and on budget, it was a pleasure to welcome Angus Council to see first-hand the progress being made. We have been creating high-quality, sustainable and transformational spaces with the council for over a decade, and Monifieth Learning Campus is a prime example. With a growing portfolio of Passivhaus projects across the region, it’s fantastic to bring that expertise to such a significant development with a trusted and forward-thinking partner.”

Councillor George Meechan, leader of Angus Council, commented, “I am thrilled to see the impressive progress being made on the new Monifieth Learning Campus. This is an invaluable investment in the future – one that will provide outstanding, modern facilities for our young people while also delivering long-term environmental benefits through its sustainable, energy-efficient design. It’s inspiring to see the vision taking shape, and I look forward to the positive impact it will have for generations to come.”

Construction began in May 2023 and is on course to open in August 2025.
