TAYLOR Wimpey West Scotland has submitted an Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) application to Stirling Council for the development of land south of Bannockburn Road, known as Berryhills, in Cowie.
The housebuilder wants to construct 417 new homes, which will form part of a broader masterplan vision for the area.
Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) has already been secured for the development. The AMSC application will set out the vision for new homes, open space, drainage, and play
areas within the masterplan. The application will also outline measures with respect to biodiversity enhancements, such as the inclusion of swift bricks, beehives, pollinator-friendly planting and hedgehog highways.
60 of the proposed new properties will be affordable homes delivered on-site. These complement the 59 affordable homes already approved on the site.
The scope of private homes will include two, three, and four-bedroom properties, while the affordable homes will include a selection designed to meet the needs of larger families as well as users reliant on wheelchairs.
Taylor Wimpey said particular care has been taken when designing the pedestrian and cycle connections through the development to ensure active travel forms a key design principle.
This application forms part of a wider masterplan vision for Berryhills and will provide a range of financial contributions payable to Stirling Council subject to a Section 75 agreement.
Martin Findlay, technical director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said, “Following close consultation with a range of key stakeholders over the last few years, we are delighted to confirm that we have made our AMSC application for the development of land at Berryhills in Cowie. This proposed development represents a significant investment in the local area by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland.
“Berryhills is allocated for new housing in Stirling Council’s Local Development Plan, which was adopted in October 2018, and we look forward to continuing our positive discussions with Stirling Council to bring this development to life and deliver on a number of positive benefits that this development will bring to the local area.
“As well as delivering new sustainable and energy efficient homes in Cowie, our development will provide a range of economic benefits for the local area, which includes attracting new customers to help support local businesses. Our development will be industry-leading, with the inclusion of bat, bee and bird bricks, beehives and hedgehog highways. We take biodiversity very seriously, and we look forward to making a
positive and meaningful impact on both Cowie and the planet.”
