MODULAR housing manufacturer Enevate Homes has announced a £2.9 million investment in its staff, plant, and equipment as it gears up for a ‘significant’ expansion.

The Wishaw-based firm builds modular solutions in its factory with a production line capable of manufacturing steel structures as well as internal fit out.

The investment will create 18 new jobs at the Wishaw-based firm, taking its team to 70 employees – which includes an increased number of apprenticeships, with opportunities for young people being a ‘key component’ of its growth plans.

Scottish Enterprise is supporting Enevate Homes with grant funding of £739,000 as part of its drive to encourage more capital investment by companies to improve their productivity.

The news was unveiled as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week during a visit to Enevate Homes by Scottish Government employment and investment minister, Tom Arthur, and Scottish Enterprise director of productivity, Elaine Morrison.

Gary Mayatt, MD of Enevate Homes, said, “The grant from Scottish Enterprise has provided us with the opportunity to invest in apprentices and support the future of North Lanarkshire’s younger generation through apprenticeship programs and upskilling initiatives.”

Elaine Morrison added, “Businesses can create opportunities for growth and profitability with capital investment. Through its expansion project, Enevate Homes is demonstrating its growth ambition and our support builds on that, underscoring Scottish Enterprise’s commitment to encouraging businesses to invest and increase productivity.”

Tom Arthur commented, “Enevate not only provides valuable employment, but helps to fulfil a need for affordable housing in an innovative and sustainable way. I am pleased we are able to provide support through Scottish Enterprise to help the company expand its operations in Scotland.

“In Scottish Apprenticeship Week, it’s also encouraging to see Enevate giving 12 apprentices a valuable start, and the close links the company has with local schools and colleges to offer opportunities to young people in the area.”
