THE Kingdom Group has completed the acquisition of construction-related training courses and vocational qualifications specialist Competence Matters Ltd.
The senior leadership team at Competence Matters will remain at the helm to ensure ‘continuity and smooth transition’ for customers and new colleagues joining Kingdom.
Kingdom Academy will now offer an ‘enhanced’ proposition, leveraging the combined expertise, operational synergies, and tailored training solutions. Customers and colleagues are also tipped to benefit from Kingdom’s broader capabilities across security, cleaning, recruitment, and systems – backed by the strength of a group with over 11,500 colleagues and a turnover of £300 million.
Terry Barton, CEO of The Kingdom Group, said, “We are delighted to welcome the Competence Matters team and their valued customers to Kingdom. We have been and will always remain an ambitious company with ambitious goals.
“This acquisition strengthens our existing Kingdom Academy training business and we’re committed to supporting the Senior Leadership Team in achieving our shared aspirations. Together and united, we’re positioned to deliver even greater value and innovative training solutions.”
After 20 years of building and leading Competence Matters, David Hanley said the time has come for him to step back as he approaches retirement.
“It has been a privilege to work alongside such a talented and dedicated team, and I am immensely grateful to every member of staff, past and present, for their hard work, passion, and commitment to excellence. Together, we have created a business that has made a real difference, providing invaluable training and qualifications to so many in the construction industry.
“The Kingdom Group is the perfect partner to take Competence Matters into its next chapter. Their vision, values, and expertise align perfectly with what we’ve built, and I am excited to see the opportunities this new partnership will bring for our colleagues and customers. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey.”
