SOUTH Ayrshire Council has confirmed works to transform Prestwick Leisure Club are being extended.
The project started last August and a new roof has already been installed with solar panels. The external blockwork is being built up to roof height. Works are continuing on replacing additional steelwork, repairing internal walls, and installing an Air Handling Ventilation System.
Recently, the decision was made to completely refurbish the changing rooms into a changing village, which means the facility is now expected to open in August this year.
Councillor Martin Kilbride, South Ayrshire Council’s portfolio holder for buildings, housing and environment, said, “The installation of a new roof with solar panels and the Air Handling Ventilation System is a key step in enhancing the sustainability of Prestwick Leisure Club. This project not only modernises the facility, but also reduces its environmental impact, aligning with our commitment to energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.”
