GLASGOW-based construction recruitment specialist Clarkson Owens has announced it is marking its most successful financial year to date with the promotion of Jill Davidson to its board of directors, and the launch of senior appointments arm, Retainer Recruitment.
Clarkson Owens recruits for the construction and civil engineering sectors, and has enjoyed ‘steady and organic’ growth in the last six years, resulting in a turnover of £3.5 million.
Joining the business in 2018, Jill currently heads up the commercial arm of Clarkson Owens and her move to director will also see her become a part-owner of the firm.
Founder Greg Clarkson said, “Jill has helped drive and shape the organisation since 2018, so bringing her into the fold as board director and part-owner was a natural step. She has an unrivalled reputation in the commercial market, particularly in central Scotland, and is well known and respected for her ability to deliver results for her clients and candidates.
“She is undoubtedly the ‘go to’ recruiter in the space, and has a calm, professional and honest style of operating, as well as a deep understanding of the industry and marketplace.”
Jill Davidson added, “This is an exciting time to join the board as we celebrate continued growth and the launch of our bespoke senior appointments service. I’m looking forward to driving our expansion strategy over the next few years, and continuing to build and nurture our longstanding relationships with candidates and businesses to fulfil the demand for talent.”
In response to demand from clients to support international and senior appointments, Clarkson Owens is also launching a specialist recruitment arm, Retainer Recruitment in late spring.
Co-founder Stevie Owens explained, “We have built relationships with of hundreds of professionals over the last 20 years, and many are contacting us to enquire about senior positions both in the UK and overseas. At the same time, requests from clients are coming in looking for more experienced candidates to fill high level roles, so it makes sense for us to offer a service that satisfies the need from both sides.
“The selection process for leadership positions requires a more tailored approach, as the risks of appointing the wrong candidate are far more impactful on both the businesses and for the individuals involved in the process.”
