ROBERTSON has completed 76 new affordable homes for Fife Council across two developments.

Tenants have started to move into sites at Pitcorthie in Dunfermline and Kennoway near Leven. Both developments form part of Fife Council’s Affordable Housing Programme. In total, Robertson is contracted to deliver seven projects for Fife Council as part of its delivery of new homes across the region.

The Pitcorthie and Kennoway developments follow on from 17 new homes in Cupar, handed over by Robertson ahead of programme in December 2023.

The homes are said to have been constructed to ‘energy-efficient’ designs, with ‘high-performance’ insulation, windows, sprinklers, PV panels, and modern heating systems.

Split into two phases, the first part of the Kennoway development completed in December, providing 43 homes on the site of a former school. Properties include a mix of detached and semi-detached homes of various sizes, alongside single-storey amenity and wheelchair-accessible bungalows.

The second phase of the development, which will add 20 more homes, is expected to complete at the end of the year.

The Pitcorthie development in Dunfermline comprises a mix of 33 one and two-bed bungalows, transforming the site of another former school. Two of the homes are wheelchair-accessible, and a community hub house has been built to support local engagement and services.

Gordon Milne, regional MD, Robertson Construction Eastern, said, “The handover of the Pitcorthie and Kennoway developments mark another milestone in our ongoing delivery for Fife Council’s Affordable Housing Programme. These projects are transforming vacant sites into much-needed homes, bringing real benefits to local communities.”

Councillor Judy Hamilton, Fife Council’s spokesperson for housing and building services, added, “I am delighted to see tenants moving into their new homes. In the face of a housing emergency, Fife Council remains committed to delivering much-needed council homes through our Affordable Housing Programme.”

Robertson ensured local communities benefited throughout the construction process. Across both developments, the firm said over £10 million was spent with local micro, small and medium enterprises whilst 730 apprenticeship weeks were hosted. Engagement was also held with local schools and Fife College, ranging from career talks to site visits and work placement opportunities.
