Hillington West Railway Station to be revamped in £2.9m project

BOTH platforms at Hillington West Railway Station in Glasgow are to be renewed in a £2.9 million project.

The 190m-long platforms, which Network Rail said have reached the end of their life, will be demolished and rebuilt with improved surfacing and drainage.

Work begins on February 16, with Platform 1 being closed for just over three months, reopening on May 18. Engineers will then start work on Platform 2, which will close between May 18 and August 17.

Ashley McDonald, scheme project manager for Network Rail Scotland, said, “This vital work to renew worn-out infrastructure that’s reached the end of its life will help us to run a safe and reliable railway.

“We know there’s never a good time to close a station platform, and we’re grateful to passengers and our neighbours for their patience while this vital improvement work takes place.”
