STIRLING-headquartered Tradstocks, a specialist supplier of natural stone products for building and landscaping projects, has announced that two of its products – Tradstocks Scottish Whinstone and Argyll Green Stone – have secured Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

An EPD highlights the environmental performance of a product, reporting on objective, comparable, and third party-verified data.

All aspects of a product’s impact – from raw material extraction and manufacturing through to usage and end-of-life disposal – are examined and independently assessed.

Tradstocks believes that EPDs are likely to become a mandatory requirement in the procurement process, with the reports used to help architects, specifiers, and contractors make informed decisions by understanding the environmental footprints of products compared to others.

Mark Freedman, director of Tradstocks, explained, “If a customer, client or specifier has net zero aspirations, they can be assured they are using the lowest carbon option by selecting one of our locally sourced stones.”

The Tradstocks EPS have now been incorporated into the international EPD system.
