THE JR Group has handed over 12 new homes at the Fairhurst Drive development in Hawick, on behalf of Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA)
The homes were completed as part of the contractor’s first project with SBHA, which also included four homes located nearby at LeishamDrive, which were finalised in November last year.
The 12 new homes comprise a mix of one and two-bedroom cottage flats, designed to be accessible for elderly residents or those with limited mobility, as well as a number of two- and three-bedroom affordable family homes.
The JR Group worked with a number of key partners on the project, including architects Aitken Turnbull, engineering firms BSA Scotland and RSP Engineers, as well as around 30 sub contractors and suppliers, many of whom were based in the area and sourced from a Meet The Buyer event the firm held prior to starting work.
While working in the Burnfoot area, The JR Group provided support to local schools and community groups through various donations, and welcomed three Hawick high school students on site for hands-on work experience.
Andrew Dallas, projects director for The JR Group, said, “We’re proud to have delivered quality homes for Scottish Borders Housing Association, our first project with them and in the region. There’s an urgent requirement for new homes in the Scottish Borders and across the country which makes completing the homes and seeing them ready for their residents even more poignant. Alongside that, this project has been a fantastic example of how we can utilise local suppliers where possible and support the communities these homes are becoming part of.”
