TAYLOR Wimpey West Scotland’s David McClure has been crowned the overall winner in the large category at the prestigious Pride in the Job Supreme Awards 2024.
The senior site manager was recognised at the ceremony in London for his work at the firm’s Castle Gate development in Maidenhill.
David’s triumph marks the the first time a site manager for Taylor Wimpey in Scotland has won the Supreme Award in the large category, and it is also the first time this category winner has been in Scotland for 25 year.
The awards are organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC), the UK’s largest new home warranties and insurance provider. Judging is rigorous, with assessment across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.
At the end of last year, a series of regional events took place throughout the UK to announce the Regional and Seal of Excellence Award winners and to celebrate the achievements of the Quality Award recipients. David was crowned the Scottish Regional winner in the large category, qualifying him to participate in the competition’s final stage at the Supreme Awards in London.
David McClure said, “Winning this award is an incredible honour and something I’ve been striving towards for many years. I have a strong track record in the competition, and I was thrilled to have picked up the Regional Award in Scotland at the ceremony in Glasgow in October last year. Winning the Supreme Award reflects my passion for delivering new homes of the highest quality, and I’m delighted that the NHBC has acknowledged the consistent efforts of the whole team at Castle Gate.”
Brian Henderson, production director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, commented, “This is the ultimate award in the UK housebuilding industry to recognise the best site managers across the country. I am delighted that David’s hard work, focus, and consistency have been judged to be the best in the UK in these highly acclaimed awards. David’s success reflects our drive to deliver the highest quality, service and commitment to our customers. He’s passionate about sharing his wealth of experience to inspire everyone who works alongside him.
“Winning the top UK Pride in the Job Supreme Award is a first for our business in Scotland, and I couldn’t be more pleased for David.”
David Blair, Taylor Wimpey MD, said, “The NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards showcases best practice and rewards excellence. We couldn’t be prouder that one of our senior site Managers, David McClure, has won the ultimate award at this year’s Pride in the Job Supreme Awards in London.
“Over the years, David has won 12 Pride in the Job Awards, six top ten Seal Awards, and, until this latest win, a Regional Award in Scotland. His record in the competition demonstrates his dedication, passion, and leadership in ensuring that new homes built at his developments are delivered to exacting construction quality standards. Congratulations to him, his site team, and everyone within the West Scotland business who plays their part in delivering the Castle Gate development.”
Commenting on the awards, Steve Wood, CEO at NHBC, added, “Congratulations to all the 2024 Pride in the Job Award Supreme winners and runners-up. They are an inspiration and should be very proud of the quality of new homes they are producing.
“While housebuilding is a team effort, we believe the greatest influence on the quality of a finished home is the calibre of the site manager and the way they inspire their team. Winning site managers demonstrate dedication, passion and leadership to ensure new homes are delivered to exacting construction quality standards.”
