THE first tenants have moved into new Shetland Island Council properties built by a local contractor at Sandveien.
The project involved the build of six two-bedroom houses and two three-bedroom homes on the site, which previously had council properties located on it.
The £2.5 million project was delivered by local lead contractor DITT Construction Ltd, alongside PJP Architects, Mott MacDonald, Jim Nisbet, and CASE Shetland.
Kyle Duncan and Kitty Horváth, alongside their two children, were the first to move into one of the newly-built three-bedroom properties, having previously lived at a home on the site.
Shetland Islands Council said that the other tenants are expected to move in over the coming days and weeks.
Anita Jamieson, executive manager – housing at Shetland Islands Council, said, “Handing over the keys and seeing our tenants moving in to these houses is a great moment and the housing service is really pleased to be able to celebrate the completion of this project.”
