A public consultation is to be launched on plans for a 60,000 sq ft expansion of the Glasgow Fort shopping and leisure park.
The proposals include new retail space and increased leisure experiences – such as tenpin bowling, karaoke, laser quest, and escape rooms.
Owner of Glasgow Fort, British Land, said that the plans come in response to increasing demand from visitors and will compliment the existing blend of retail and leisure operators already on site.
A number of high-profile brands have opened at Glasgow Fort over the last year, including Rituals and Primark, as well as Zara which opened its largest store in Scotland.
To ensure that the works are aligned with the needs of the local community, a consultation period will open from December 9. Stakeholders will be able to find out more via the online hub, or can speak to one of the Glasgow Fort team on-site at Tinderbox cafe at one of two drop-in events on December 11 from 2pm – 7pm and January 16 from 4pm – 7pm.
Ross McCall, retail leasing & commercialisation director at British Land, said, “It’s been an incredibly successful year at Glasgow Fort, where we have welcomed several popular national and regional brands, which has further enhanced the overall experience for our visitors.
“These expansion proposals are the next phase of our continued investment into Glasgow Fort, as we seek to create a vibrant and thriving retail destination and reaffirm our commitment to providing a leading retail, leisure and dining experience that reflects the changing needs and wants of our customers and retailers. As such, we are looking forward to hearing the opinions of our visitors throughout the consultation period to ensure our plans are aligned.”
