Douglas McLeod, regional MD for Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes Scotland, said, “As the nation’s leading housebuilder, we’re immensely proud of our significant contribution to Scotland’s economy and communities in 2024. Our work has helped to boost Scotland’s economy by over £400 million, delivered 1,613 high-quality, energy-efficient homes and supported more than 4,000 jobs across the country.

“We’re particularly proud of our continued commitment to sustainability, creating over 41 hectares of green space and ensuring 99% of our homes meet the highest energy efficiency standards. This not only benefits the environment but also saves our customers money in the long run.”

As part of its housebuilding activity, Barratt revealed it has made £15.9 million in local contributions to help build facilities and community infrastructure. This includes the provision of 408 new school places. More than £31 million has been spent on physical works, such as highways, environmental improvements, and community facilities.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes Scotland added that the development of new and future talent remains a ‘key priority’, with 55 graduates, apprentices and trainees launching their careers with the company in 2024.

The assessment was carried out by independent experts who analysed socio-economic impacts through the delivery chain for new housing based upon datasets, published research and national statistics.
