BUILDING services provider Arc-Tech (Scotland) has revealed details of its progress at a new care home in Perth.
Located on Dundee Road, the development is set to transform the site of the former Hillside Hospital into a purpose-built facility, designed to offer ‘best-in-class’ residential, nursing and dementia care services for people over the age of 65.
The project is being led by Morrison Community Care (CCG) Holdco, a joint venture between Morrison Community Care Group and construction and manufacturing group, CCG (Scotland).
Arc-Tech has supported both companies since being founded in 2017. Dundee Road is one of two developments on-site, with operations set to start on a third in the west end of Glasgow in the coming months and a fourth contract set to commence in West Lothian in 2025.
Arc-Tech is responsible for the installation of mechanical services such as air-con, ventilation, fire suppression, and Combined Heat and Power (CHP), as well as electrical services including lighting, data, communication, fire, and security systems. Public health services also comprise part of the installation including sanitary ware and drainage connections.
John Gallacher, Arc-Tech (Scotland) MD, stated, “Scotland’s population is continuing to age at pace, so it is important we continue to meet the needs of the elderly by creating new, modern facilities that are equipped to serve this growing demand within the care sector. Dundee Road will be another great example of the work of Morrison Community Care and CCG, a partnership that we have proudly supported for the better half of a decade with six developments (over 300 beds) across the country and project pipeline into 2026 that will utilise the breadth of our in-house M&E expertise.
“I look forward to watching how works at Dundee Road will progress over the coming months.”
Dundee Road will offer each resident a private en-suite bedroom as well as access to amenities such as dining rooms served by professionally trained chefs, a hair salon, visitor’s café and cinema as well as private gardens.
Paul Sokhi, Morrison Community Care Group MD, added, “I am delighted with the progress being made on-site, and I commend partners like Arc-Tech, as well as CCG (Scotland) and our design team of Holmes Miller, Design Me, Design Consult, and CRGP Surveyors for their efforts in bringing this challenging site to life. The care home will be a much-valued asset to the local and wider Perth community upon its completion next year. The availability of care homes in Scotland has decreased by 19% since 2013 whilst our ageing population continues to grow.
“It is therefore imperative that we support our elderly community and alleviate pressure on our NHS with developments such as Dundee Road where a best-in-class environment will be created for residents, family members and staff alike.”
