HFD has appointed Chris McGhee as the new commercial lead of its construction business, supporting the delivery of building projects across Scotland.
Chris brings over 25 years of sector expertise to the role, having initially qualified as a quantity surveyor. His previous experience includes roles with Balfour Beatty and Kier Group, contributing to framework projects for NHS Scotland, Defence Infrastructure Organisation and AGS Airports. Most recently, he was commercial director at ISG, where he worked with clients including Diageo, Cameron House, and Gleneagles Townhouse on a range of technical, sustainable, and hospitality projects.
In his new role at HFD, Chris will support the property team to deliver buildings and commercial spaces. The division is responsible for the delivery of the group’s construction programme, which has included its flagship office development at 177 Bothwell Street in Glasgow, and 122 Waterloo Street, occupied by Morgan Stanley. Most recently, the construction team has worked on the redevelopment of Aurora – described as one of the city’s most sustainable office buildings.
Chris McGhee said, “I’ve watched and admired HFD from afar throughout my career, so it’s great to have the chance to work with such an innovative company with a market-leading offering. My experience spans a range of projects for a mix of clients but underpinning all is the commitment to adding value and maintaining the highest quality throughout aspects of energy efficiency, technology, and design.
“The diversity of HFD’s business will also open up new opportunities in areas such as renewables and IT and data, and I’m looking forward to working closely with William and the rest of the team.”
William Hill, CEO of HFD, added, “With his experience and knowledge in the construction sector, Chris makes a great addition to the team. As commercial director, he will support the delivery of our core development projects, maintaining our commitment to low-carbon, sustainable construction and best-in-class spaces.”
