Ambassador Homes gets green light to retain listed buildings at historic Bangour site

Ambassador Group's Bangour Village Estate site

AMBASSADOR Homes has been given the green light by West Lothian Council for the final plans to redevelop listed buildings as part of the Bangour Village Estate in West Lothian.

The redevelopment will integrate the former hospital buildings and church into a new community of 976 homes set within 215 acres of mature woodland.

The site will utilise a district heating system and comprise a variety of housing options, including detached and semi-detached homes and townhouses. 20% of the properties will be dedicated to affordable housing.

Over the project’s anticipated timeline, Ambassador Group revealed that it plans to invest £150 million in community benefits and infrastructure, including a new primary school, which will incorporate elements of the original A-listed recreation hall.

Gordon Coster, MD of Ambassador Group’s developments division, said, “The unanimous approval from West Lothian Council marks a key milestone for Ambassador Group in bringing this historic and much-loved village back to life. We have already begun specialised work to preserve and integrate the historic structures into the new development, initial infrastructure and groundworks are underway, and a selection of homes within ‘The Crescent’ are already available for sale.

“It is an honour for Ambassador Group to be leading this iconic redevelopment, and we remain committed to working closely with the local community and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition into a thriving neighbourhood for residents, locals, and visitors. With its rich history and our focus on sustainability and delivering an exceptional standard of living, Bangour Village Estate is set to become a unique and cherished village for future generations.”
