ARC-Tech (Scotland) has revealed details of its £6 million mechanical and electrical (M&E) services package for Scotland’s latest tourist destination in Edinburgh.

The £60 million Lost Shore Surf Resort opened its doors to the public for the first time recently. The site features Scotland’s first inland wave pool – the largest in Europe – as well as a range of food and retail premises, 31 luxury lodges and 22 camping pods, SurfSkate, and wellness treatments.

Arc-Tech joined Malcolm Group on-site earlier this year to install services that will support daily operations of the resort’s facilities. This includes an air-source heat pump farm comprising three industrial scale pumps and a water storage and booster system housed within a specially-designed plantroom, solar PV panels, and 41 EV charging points.

The provider also installed all air conditioning, security, data, lighting and fire safety systems alongside low voltage power and an electrical power management system for the wave machine, which enables electrical load shedding when in higher demand.

The contract directly supported 25 full-time jobs including the training of five trade apprentices.

John Gallacher, Arc-Tech (Scotland) MD, said, “I am in no doubt that Lost Shore Surf Resort is going to be a fantastic boost to Edinburgh and Scotland’s tourism sector, and we are delighted to have played our part on behalf of our longstanding client, Malcolm Group. The breadth of services that have been installed is a testament to our in-house expertise which we have strategically developed to support projects of this nature over the last eight years.

“It has also been a great privilege to see the work of our apprentices first-hand; I know they will be extremely proud to be associated with Lost Shore Surf Resort, particularly our first years who embraced the challenge of this specialist working environment and delivered an excellent service that will stand them in great stead for the remaining years of their programme.”

W H Malcolm director Jim McAlister added, “The Lost Shore project was always going to be a challenging job from start to finish. To help us complete the work, we needed to select the most helpful and technically competent of our partnering contractors. Arc-Tech assisted in the tendering process, right through design and build, to completion, with the professional manner they had produced in previous contracts. Their team were part of the project and worked closely with us, and the communication was so good, that the work was final accounted before the handover date.”
