SUPERGLASS and URSA, two insulation brands under the global Etex Group, have joined forces to provide a new, collaborative solution for modern timber frame construction.
The combined expertise and resources in glass mineral wool insulation technology of both brands is said to offer an ‘advanced, non-combustible’ insulation solution.
Tony Gordon, head of product management at Stirling-based Superglass, explained that, at the core of the collaboration is the use of URSA’s British Board of Agrément (BBA)-approved URSAPAN BLACK and Superglass’ Timber & Rafter range of glass mineral wool insulation products.
“Together, these products deliver excellent thermal performance, achieving U-Values as low as 0.12W/m2K, while offering an option for timber frame wall constructions,” Tony added. “The perfect sustainable duo, both products crafted from recycled glass, not only reduces environmental impact but also enhances thermal efficiency.
“The non-combustible nature of their glass mineral wool insulation, with a Euroclass A1 fire classification, ensures safety, a critical factor in building design.
“Glass mineral wool is not only sustainable but also highly adaptable, making installation easier by filling any substrate imperfections. This flexibility eliminates the need for rigid board insulation and helps reduce on-site cutting, streamlining the construction process.”
Tony added that combining URSAPAN BLACK for the external cavity of the wall with Superglass’ Timber & Rafter rolls between the timber studs results in a ‘comprehensive insulation solution that delivers on thermal efficiency, fire safety, and ease of installation’.
