Q) What’s the history of Smart Scaffolder and how has the software evolved over the years?
A) SMART Scaffolder has been around for nearly 20 years, developed by CADS. CADS as a business has been developing civil, geotechnical and structural engineering design, analysis and detailing software for 50 years.
CADS employs more than 500 staff globally and has been in business for over 40 years. There are more than 6,000 CADS customers who use over 50,000 copies of CADS software in 70 countries.
Q) What are some of the most popular solutions you offer?
A) SMART Estimator, our longest running product, which is a one-stop solution for rapid 3D scaffold estimation, and SMART Manager, a digital alternative to paper inspections and handover documents that helps scaffold contractors digitise, reduce emissions, and increase productivity.

A) Across all our products we focus on automating and increasing productivity, enabling businesses to do more with their existing staff. A) All software subscriptions include access to our expert technical support team, digital help centre and training videos as well as 1-2-1 training.

Q) Do you work with many Scottish companies? Do you see scope for expanding this?
A) Yes, we work with an ever increasing number of prominent Scottish scaffold firms, and we’re keen to bring the benefits of our software to more companies across Scotland in the future.
Q) What can you tell us about your future plans/innovations?
A) We’re currently in the process of integrating the products into a seamless suite enabling customers to create estimates, win the work and transition into live site for inspections and handovers.
